"The Skylanders Are Back."
-The game's official tagline.
Skylanders: Rune Rangers is an UNNOFFICIAL fangame created by ZapNorris, set to be released worldwide on October 11th, 2026.
The Story[]
Long ago, ancient beings created stone tablets engraved with elemental power- the Runestones. These Runestones contained immense power- but evil forces sought them out. After years of grand battle, the Runestones were sealed away by the ancients. To prevent evildoers from discovering these artifacts, a team of Skylander guardians was assembled- the Runemasters- the use their power for good.
Years later, the Runestones have been unearthed, and their power has been scattered across Skylands. Now, an ancient evil has discovered these artifacts, and has used them to spread darkness across the land. It's up to you to use the power of the Runestones and take back the Skylands!
Discover The Runes[]
The Runestones are special, in-game augments that can be used during gameplay by any character. Each Runestone provides a special effect for a short amount of time. The Runestones have a special menu that can be accessed instantly to easily integrate them into your adventure.
Rune Packs can also be purchased at retail to obtain exclusive Runestones that can't be found in-game. Runemaster figures and Adventure Packs also contain exclusive Runes.
Meet The Runemasters, and Reunite with Returning Heroes[]
The Runemasters are an ancient team of 20 Skylanders who’s sworn duty is to guard the Runestones. Each Runemaster has a Rune specific to them that allows them to use an “Ultimate Move” exclusive to that character. Runemasters can also access special Runemaster Rifts, exclusive areas with hidden rewards.
Alongside the Runemasters, this game introduces 20 new Core Skylanders.
24 fan favorite Skylanders are also back as reposed figures, and 10 more have returned as Lightcores.
More To Explore- PVP and Open World[]
Skylanders: Rune Rangers contains a mix of standard platforming levels and massive open world areas that let you discover secrets and fight enemies like never before. Between levels, you’ll be able to explore the game’s hub world, an expansive open world with gates and zones for special Skylanders of past games.
Also included is Explorer Mode, an online multiplayer experience that allows you to explore, battle, and team up with up to 100 players at once.
Rune Rangers brings back the fan-favorite PvP Battle Mode, reimagined for the modern era. Use all your favorite Skylanders in head-to-head combat, either with friends or online. Battle players from across the world to prove your skills as the ultimate Portal Master.
Also debuting is the Gauntlet Of Doom, a single-player mode where endless waves of enemies will come your way, and the goal is to defeat them all and last as long as possible.
There are also new ways to customize your characters. See here for more info.
A special guest star Runemaster is raring to go![]
To celebrate the partnership between Microsoft and Activision, the duo of Banjo & Kazooie guest star in Skylanders: Rune Rangers as a singluar Runemaster, with attacks and abilities taken straight from the classic games.
Banjo & Kazooie have no assigned element, instead focusing on being faithful to their appearance in Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Kazooie 2. To reflect this further, their figure just has them standing on a large Jiggy instead of an elemental base.
The Banjo & Kazooie figure will appear first in a Banjo-Kazooie Edition Starter Pack exclusive to Xbox ONE and Xbox ONE S systems. This figure will release at regular retail for all systems in 2027.

Story- Avenge The Skylands[]
Ten years ago, Malefor was awakened, and used the power of the ancient Runestones to unleash destruction across Skylands. With the Skylanders split apart and outnumbered, and Malefor aided by a team of five dangerous villains, the Dragon King has ruled Skylands with an iron grip for years. Still holding on to the dream is Snap Shot, former leader of the Trap Masters, now working as the sole warden of Cloudcracker Prison. Everything changes when Cynder miraculously re-emerges, potentially holding the key to defeating Malefor and saving Skylands. Notes & Grievances[]
- This is an idyllic version of Rune Rangers, like the glory days. If TRU ever went back into real business, this would be it.
- The Runemaster figures are each around 8-9 inches tall, excluding the base. They're big, detailed, and they light up.
- They also include a display case that can be used to activate their light-up features. Cool! This also helps justify the 20 dollar price point.
- Cores and Reposes are about 5 inches tall excluding the base. They're also detailed, but don't light up.
- Lightcores are 5-7 inches tall, and light up obviously.
- This game also features the return of the cards from the first four games! I just think they're neat.
- If you wanna ask me a question or anything, please message me directly. For some reason my computer freezes up whenever I try to respond to a comment on any of the pages here. It sucks.
- And for one person in particular.. I have no plans to draw any of the old fanon villains from years ago. I made those up when I was, like, 13. I would have told you privately but as mentioned above, my laptop just feels like crapping out. Sorry.
- Do not edit this page without my permission. Thank you.
